Tips for Staying Healthy During the Holidays

So how can you survive the holidays and still stay fit and lean? Here are some tips to make the holidays happy and healthy.

  1. Check in advance what will be served at parties or family events and make sure there are plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables available.

  2. Always take a salad and healthy snacks with you. Almonds and Lara Bars are delicious and easy to throw in your bag.

  3. If you are going to a party that you know may not have any healthy food, eat before you go, and only have a "little bite" of dessert, preferably fruit or a low sugar treat.

  4. If you're cooking or baking, substitute healthy oils (olive oil, coconut oil or sesame oil) for butter and other saturated fats.

  5. Find some new healthy recipes to substitute for the ones you've always used by searching the Internet or purchasing a raw food recipe book (check out "Raw" or "Raw Food for Busy People").

  6. When going shopping for holiday gifts, park your car as far from the mall entrance as possible (which you may have to do anyway!) to get some extra walking in.

  7. When visiting family, schedule your exercise in. Remember to make yourself a priority this holiday season!

  8. Give yourself a "cut-off time" like 7pm. This is a time that you commit to stop eating and you agree to not eat any food past this time (not even a grape!) This will aid the digestion process and help you sleep better too.

  9. Keep up with your supplement intake and add extra B vitamins to reduce stress and extra C to reduce colds during this hectic season.

  10. Delegate what you can, and learn to say "no" as you cannot do everything! Take care of yourself first with some "me" time!

  11. Keep drinking plenty of water to remove toxic build up from overeating. (Remember the goal is 3 liters/ day)

  12. Schedule a series of colonics before and/ or after the holidays.

  13. End each day with a Gratitude Journal to ponder everything you have to be grateful for. Remember, what you focus on GROWS... choose to focus on the positive!

"My philosophy is that not only are you responsible for your life, but doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment."
